Thanksgiving in England!

Officially experienced my first Thanksgiving in England! I got to celebrate with a few of my favorite people, which made it even more special.

It’s been a while since I last wrote—life has been so busy with everything wrapping up. I’ve got a week and a half left at the time of me writing this post. I’ve officially finished all my assignments and finals for my Concept of God class, but I’ll still be busy with other things as my program wraps up.
I saw snow for the first time here about two weeks ago! Even though it was in the forecast, no one believed it would actually happen. Everyone kept telling me there was no chance, so I didn’t get my hopes up. But then I woke up to find the ground completely covered—it was such a fun surprise!

Last Tuesday, the Sheehans, my cousins, came to visit Oxford, and we grabbed coffee together. The following day, I met them in Rustington for Thanksgiving! I couldn’t have asked for better weather at the end of November, especially being near the water.

What was supposed to be a 2.5-hour train ride turned into a five-hour journey, but it was all worth it. When I arrived, I was welcomed with a delicious dinner of quiche, salad, tomato soup, and ice cream with berries for dessert. I hit the jackpot with this crew!
On Thanksgiving morning, I slept in and rode with Peggy to meet everyone at the Blue Bird Café. I had an iced latte, eggs, toast, and bacon. Here’s a photo of me posing with the famous hot chocolate Juliana refused to share with me!

The beach was beautiful and reminded me of San Diego, which made me excited to go back. The water was freezing, but there were so many seashells and happy dogs running around. It’s such a dog-friendly area—I can’t help but wonder what Waffles would be like on the water.

When we returned to the Airbnb, I was in charge of making the sweet potatoes—just sweet potatoes, butter, and brown sugar. We also had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, salad, cranberry sauce, and pie. Here's a picture of Christoper's plate.

The sunset that evening was absolutely stunning.

Celebrating Thanksgiving here felt a bit strange since I’m so used to everyone in the States joining in and having the day off from work or school. There weren’t supermarkets packed with turkeys, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, but my crew and I made it a day to remember.
That night, we played Codenames. It was such a fun game, and, just so you know, my team won.
The next two days were super chill. We started each morning with a walk and coffee. Here's us talking to Howie's brother. This coffee place was called Howie's coffee I believe. Spent a lot of time here, lol.

All my love,
Isa
